2023–2026 · HEALTHCARE · CHIEF RACIAL EQUITY CONSULTANT

SFDPH Behavioral Health Services.

A documented case study of sustained, evidence-based institutional anti-racism work — and how it became the foundation of the Diagnosis Series and the Leadership Fellowship.

Selected through a competitive RFQ to serve as Behavioral Health Services' contracted anti-racism infrastructure consultant, King of Kings Consulting embedded inside the Behavioral Health Services division of the 8,000-employee San Francisco Department of Public Health — across three years (2023–2026). The Anti-Racism Leaders Fellowship was delivered across four cohorts, training 200+ leaders in a 16-week immersive curriculum. Six institutional policies were developed and implemented, including the Antiracism Recruitment & Hiring Policy, Healing Time Off, and Respect in the Workplace. 100+ executive coaching sessions were delivered with 18 executives across five competency domains. A race-conscious mediation protocol was designed and piloted, and racial affinity group infrastructure was built for Black/African American, Latinx, Asian, and White Accountability employees. The engagement received the California Medical Association's Cultural and Linguistic Competency & Implicit Bias Innovation Award, Overall Program (2025).

UCSF Institutional Footprint.

From a single PTBi engagement to a university-wide footprint — Office of Diversity & Outreach, IDEAL Academy, Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor, and Office of the President.

What began at the California Preterm Birth Initiative opened a door to the broader UCSF institution. Following PTBi, Dante King was invited to lead a five-part virtual series — Anti-Blackness and Its Links to White Supremacy — reaching the entire UCSF Medical School, hospital, and all major departments. The exceptional response led to a cascade of institutional invitations across the UCSF footprint. Senior Vice Chancellor Erin Gore (Finance & Administration) contracted a full-day Chancellor and Vice Chancellor retreat covering all Chancellors and VCs, HR, Communications, and all Finance & Administration divisions. A half-day session with the Office of the President included Dean of the Medical School Dr. Talmadge King. The accredited course Understanding the Roots of Racism and Bias (MMC23096B-E) was offered through UCSF School of Medicine 2021–2025 for 16.25 CME/CE hours across medicine, law, social work, nursing, and behavioral sciences.

Mayo Clinic.

Three-year engagement — international keynote, Medical Grand Rounds, faculty appointment, and two accredited CME/CE courses totaling 22.5 hours.

In 2021, Mayo Clinic contracted Dante King to deliver anti-racism training for clinical and executive leaders. The depth of that initial engagement set off a three-year relationship — culminating in an international keynote address (December 2022) at Mayo Clinic's international conference in Florida, a Medical Grand Rounds presentation for the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology, and a faculty appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medical Education at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science — one of the few non-physician external consultants to hold this distinction at a top-ranked U.S. medical institution. The engagement also produced an accredited four-session CME/CE course — Developing Anti-Racism Leadership Competencies to Achieve Inclusive Practices and Health Equity — co-facilitated with Dr. Robin DiAngelo. 75+ global healthcare leaders participated. A second accredited course — MCCMS I-DARE Curriculum Foundations Faculty Development Course: Roots and Lingering Effects — was delivered in two parts in May 2022 (May 10 and May 17) as internal Mayo faculty development, carrying 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits combined. Faculty evaluations averaged 4.93/5.0 on practical value and content; 100% of respondents recommended the course.
