What UCSF Institutional Footprint was facing.
The engagement at the California Preterm Birth Initiative (UCSF School of Medicine) opened a door to the broader UCSF institution. Following PTBi, Dante King was invited to lead a five-part virtual series — Anti-Blackness and Its Links to White Supremacy — reaching the entire UCSF Medical School, hospital, and all major departments. The exceptional response led to a cascade of institutional invitations across the UCSF footprint.
Senior Vice Chancellor Erin Gore (Finance & Administration) contracted a full-day Chancellor and Vice Chancellor retreat: all Chancellors and Vice Chancellors, HR, Communications, and all Finance & Administration divisions. The session — videotaped — opened with a historical analysis of intentional, legalized racism in U.S. institutions, and closed with strategic planning and harm reduction leadership tools and timelines.
